General comments about Jim's playing

I have had the pleasure of not only hearing Jim play but also of watching him play. There are few people that play as cleanly and with what appears to be such ease as Jim. Every note has life and character. His original tunes are wonderful and I hope to hear many more over the years. - Bill Nichols (Lusby, MD)

Jim is one of the finest fingerstyle guitarists I have ever heard, or known. I really love his original works, and have a couple that are in constant play both on the CD's and in my head. Can't wait to hear what he comes out with next. - Rick S. (New Smyrna Beach, FL)

Jim's playing is smooth, inventive and quite intoxicating at times. When I first bought Castlerea, it didn't leave my car CD player for over a month. I've done a concert with him and he's played in my home....everytime I hear him it's fresh all over again, and I'm taken back by his talent. - Todd Hunt (Midland, MI)

Jim's music plays to my heartstrings, both exhilerating and calming me with each guitar stroke. I thoroughly enjoy Jim's music and have shared it with others; his CDs make wonderful gifts! Looking forward to his next release! - Cynthia C. (Lexington Park, MD)

Castlerea

First album I ever bought that really showed Jim's comprehension of the guitar and how to make it sound uniquely his own. - Ray Elliot (Tucker, GA)

Celtic Guitar Solos songbook

Jim's songbook makes Celtic guitar playing approachable even for someone like myself who has very little experience of playing in alternate tunings. The tab is very clear, Jim's explanations are really useful, and his playing provides a stunning example to aspire to. - Fliss Davies (Cheshire, UK)

Guitar Pieces

The most recent album I acquired, it has a freshness about that I found most compelling. The music is just as soothing as ever but these songs are more dynamic. I also can't help but love the new cover. Best album so far. OK Celtic Guitar is tied for first, ah but that is a whole 'nother review. - Ray Elliot (Tucker, GA)

Guitar Pieces stays in my car at all times! Jim's playing is effortless and free, and his compositions are very original. Jim has a gift for writing great melodies. "Each Passing Day," "Trail of Tears," and "Memories Like Rain" will reflect that for sure. I just have to smile every time I hear "South of Nashville." "Ryan's Song" is such a great album opener, and the most refreshing thing about Jim's guitar pieces is that he is not afraid of being personal! - Brandon Dyke (Mauldin, SC)
