CONCERT ON THE RADIO

I recently found out that excerpts from my concert in Little Rock this summer are going to be featured on the radio next week.

On Saturday, October 4th, KUAR FM 89 in Little Rock will be airing approximately 20 minutes of music from my concert at Studio Joe this past June.

I will be one of the featured artists on the inaugural episode of a new program called "Studio Joe," which will focus on live music from the venue of the same name. The venue has a great sound system, and doubles as a recording studio. After playing there in June, I received a CD with a rough mix of the performance, and I was so pleased with how it turned out that I've been thinking about using it for a live CD at some point. So I'm excited that they chose my performance for inclusion in the show's radio debut.

The Studio Joe show is too new to be listed on KUAR's programming page for 10/4 (at least it wasn't there when I checked earlier today), and I don't know for sure what time it will air. If I'm able to find out, I will post the information here. If I had to guess, though, I'd say it might be during the 8-9 PM time slot, which currently has "Live from Acoustic Sounds Cafe" listed on the schedule.

The "Listen Live" page on the KUAR website will allow anyone who's interested to tune in. If you happen to get that opportunity, be sure to let me know what you think!

GUITAR PIECES REVIEWED BY MINOR 7TH

A new review of the Guitar Pieces CD has been posted by Kirk Albrecht for Minor 7th. Head over to the to the Reviews page to check out what Kirk had to say.

PICTURE IN A MAGAZINE

The British magazine Guitar Techniques used a picture of me (with the caption "Jim Tozier: award-winning Celtic stylist") in their September issue. The article is a lesson in Celtic guitar, and even though I'm not mentioned in the text, it's pretty cool that they'd choose a picture of me to accompany the article. It's on page 88, in case you want to check it out.

NEW PROJECTS IN THE WORKS

Solid Air Records has invited me to contribute tracks to a couple of exciting new projects. For the upcoming release, A Guitar for Elvis, I will be doing an arrangement of "Are You Lonesoe Tonight?" For the second project, a tribute to composers Richard and Robert Sherman, I will be recording "The Slipper and the Rose Waltz," taken from from 1976 film The Slipper and the Rose, which is a re-telling of the Cinderella story. Both projects will feature an amazing collection of award-winning guitarists, so it's a real honor to be involved.

THE "PIECES" ARE IN PLACE

Earlier this month I traveled to Fairview, NC to record the songs that will comprise my new CD, Guitar Pieces. In addition to 14 new original compositions, the CD will contain a few surprises: Grammy-winning guitarist Al Petteway joins me for a playful groove called "Owl at the Bridge," and there are two "bonus" cover tunes--Elliott Smith's "Between the Bars" (which you may know from the movie Good Will Hunting), and The Association's classic 60's hit, "Never My Love."

You can see the track listing and a sneak peek at the cover art here.

The CD will once again be released by Solid Air Records; we are hoping it will be available by mid-June.

SUMMER TOUR PLANNED

I'll be hitting the road for two weeks this summer to perform at venues or house concerts in nearly a dozen states throughout the South and Midwest.

Check the Schedule page to see when I will be coming to a location near you. Contact me if you'd be interested in hosting a house concert when I'm in town--but hurry, because I will be booking performances very soon!
